Google has officially announced its new flagship Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL , with the first to insist on a design that resembles an older flagship and the second to come with premium refined design. But what they both have is the great camera.
This is at least the conclusion of DxOMark, which had tested the iPhone 8 Plus by calling it the smartphone with the best camera. Today came the review for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 camera, which got the same 94 points with the iPhone 8 Plus . Apple and Samsung climbed to the top of the DxO list, but they did not stay for long.
The Pixel 2 has come to conquer the top with the single 12 Megapixel camera with OIS, the 1 / 2.6 “sensor and the f / 1.8 lens aperture. We also have a new generation of image processing, the Pixel Visual Core, goes beyond the HDR +, which we saw in the first Pixels while the dual pixel autofocus.
In taking pictures the Pixel 2 got 99 points, it went extremely well in the daylight with very good detail rendering, color rendering and dynamic range. It also went well in low light conditions, but lost some small details. Flash performance was commendable.
Bokeh exists in the camera, but requires more software customizations. Google has made a significant improvement over previous models, but has not been able to get iPhone 8 Plus performance to produce natural background blurring.
