In the fall of 2016, Google showed that it is launching a new lineup of devices by removing the Nexus brand and thus releasing the first two Pixel smartphones, called Google Pixel and Pixel XL. Soon these devices, thanks to their powerful hardware and excellent camera, immediately gained public trust, exerted so much attraction that their popularity skyrocketed despite some drawbacks such as lack of sealing and its common design.
But a little while ago and having spent a whole year, Google noticed a lot around her and just announcing the successors of its oldest Pixel 1 st generation, showed on stage the new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with their differences now felt. The smallest model, Pixel 2, is said to remind us of its predecessor, but in Pixel 2 XL the company has “recitals”, supplied it with a real beautiful exterior that follows the trend of the others, that is, it has a Full Display screen with almost disappeared bezels, very-very thin frames that do not look much.
With these two new devices for the rest of this year, Google covers all users. It offers a classically smallest smartphone for those who do not want enormous sizes and on the other hand gives the Android world an “extra” choice for all those who are fascinated with devices that have tall screens covering every spot on their front surface. The Pixel 2 XL has a 6-inch OLED display with a 1440 x 2880 resolution and 18: 9 aspect ratio, similar to the LG G6 and the latest LG V30. Yes, LG’s responsibility for manufacturing, so we understand its influences from its own models, such as the curves on the top of the screen and the reduced thickness, reminds design something between LG G6 and Active Galaxy S8. However, the Pixel 2 XL may have slightly larger bezels as the stereo speakers are in front. It has a circular polarizer for improved clarity under sunlight and has the Always On Display feature since Oreo has native support.
The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 with 3D Arc Glass, while glass is also on the back. The rest of the body is made of aluminum. From the basic water protection of previous models, it was converted to IP67.
About its photographic capabilities, there is a 12 Megapixel camera with OIS and a new generation of image processing. It has Pixel Visual Core and goes beyond the HDR +, which we saw in the first Pixels. The front camera is 8 Megapixel with f / 2.4 lens aperture. There is the laser system.
Getting closer to it, we will see how the Pixel 2 XL is powered by Qualcomm’s 2.35 GHz Snapdragon 835 chip coupled with a powerful GPU Adreno 540 and 4GB LPDDR4X RAM. There will be a basic version of 64GB and 128GB. The phone is also equipped with a 3520 mAh battery, slightly larger than the 3450 mAh battery of the previous year’s Pixel XL.
It looks like a bad joke, but Google that was ironing Apple to remove the 3.5-inch classical 3.5-inch headphone jack on the iPhone 7/7 Plus, this year chose to own its own phones to do the same and accompany them with its own wireless headphones, called Pixel Buds.
Google has put eSIM in its new mobile phones to work with both Google Fi and other providers. There is of course the standard nano-SIM slot.
As expected, both Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL run Android 8.0 Oreo from the start and in their new Launcher there is a general refresh, with the search bar now moving to the bottom rather than the top of the screen, which will facilitates more users and especially Pixel 2 XL owners. In addition to this, reminders now appear on the home screen as a widget, along with weather information. The latter is linked to the new dynamic wallpaper system, which changes the background of your home screen depending on the current weather conditions.
On the way to its commercial mood, the Pixel 2 XL will go from mid-November to 850 for the basic version, while those who want more capacity will have to pay another 100 dollars. It will be available in Just Black and Black White colors.
