How to root Android 11 using Magisk v21: It has been a month since Google’s latest and greatest Android 11 got out, and a few phones got the updates since then. The first Android 11 custom ROM was available just after a few days of its Android 11 release, and since then, developers across the globe are working to put out more Android 11 Custom ROMs. The users who got the official Android 11 update are waiting for a way to root their device, and the wait is finally over. Developers just released a new version of Magisk v21.0 with official support for Android 11.

Magisk is known as a systemless root method that essentially modifies the system without actually modifying it and is one of the safest ways to root your device.. All the modifications or changes are safely stored in the boot partition and not in the file system. So, modifications can go undetected by Google SafetyNet. So here is a quick guide on how to install and root your Android 11 running device using Magisk, but before that, here are some pre-requisites:

Pre-requisites

  • Make sure your device has at least an 80% charge and is running Android 11.
  • Get a copy of the stock boot image for your phone.
  • Create a complete backup of your device before starting the process.
  • Make sure your device has an unlocked bootloader mode.
  • Set up Android platform-tools on your computer.
  • Make sure you have USB debugging enabled on your device.

How to root Android 11 using Magisk v21

Now that you have checked all the prerequisites, follow the steps below to Root your device running Android 11 using Magisk v21.0:

How to root Android 11 using Magisk v21

  1. Download and Keep the Stock Boot Image and transfer it to the “Download” folder of your device.
  2. Download the APK of Magisk Manager v8.0.2 (or above) from the official Github release page directly to your phone and install it.
  3. Launch the Magisk Manager app and press the cogwheel icon on the top-right to access the “Settings”.
  4. Tap on “Update Channel” and set it to “Beta” This is Magisk v21.0 which is currently not available in the Stable version.
  5. On the main screen, press “Install” and choose “Select and Patch a File”.
  6. Now navigate to the “Download” folder and select the boot image file.
  7. Once the boot image is selected, press “Let’s Go”.
  8. Now the Boot Image is Patched and is Stored in the “Download” Folder, transfer it to your Computer.
  9. Inside the ‘platform-tools’ folder, open the command prompt.
  10. Now boot your device in fastboot mode using the following command: adb reboot bootloader
  11. Verify that your PC can recognize your phone using the following command: fastboot devices
  12. Now to flash the patched boot image to your phone type the following command: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
  13. After flashing is complete, reboot your device using the following command: fastboot reboot

 

And now, you have root access on your Android 11 device. Now you can install all the apps that require root access without any worries and use Magisk Manager to install modules for adding new features to the software.
