Xiaomi announced three Mi 8 models at the end of May. This is Mi 8 SE, Mi 8, and – with a special transparent backing, a fingerprint reader built into the display and a real 3D Face Detection – Mi 8 Explorer Edition. While Mi 8 is already in the hands of you, the test is being prepared, and the first copies of Mi 8 SE have also appeared in India , so far nothing of the EE version has ever been available.
The device itself is almost identical to the base of Mi 8, except for 8 GB of RAM, a single-pack storage (128 GB) and a 3400 mAh battery.

The face detection in Mi 8 is a perfect solution for me, even if the process is a couple of times slower than expected. It can not be fooled, and it works exactly in the darkness. In addition, the infrared LED is a further positive dive in the fact that in the case of a night vision camera, the MIUI camera application is a bit ‘bumpy’ and close to day-time photo quality, clear images of our faces.
Based on the first videos, the biometric identifier built into the EE display is not flawless, but with a 3D face ID system, we can unlock the phone virtually without lifting the phone when it is not clear or running. For most of us, the design of the backplane design is more primitive, although we would probably use fewer protectors. With a silicone case or hard case, there is the magic of the special solution.
While Mi 8 has already made 1 million copies, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition is still unavailable. Some test specimens have been made, but have not yet been commercialized. However, this is expected to change in the next few days as the model has been approved by the TENAA organization (inscribed). In this list, the phone can be found under the name M1807E8S. The appropriate certificate means that the model will be sold soon.
The price of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition in China is 3699 yuan (about 37000 INR).
As I wrote at the beginning, the Mi 8 EE will be available in a configuration. 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. No other version is planned. Except for battery, the other specifications are the same as Mi 8 .
However, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition is the first Android smartphone to support Face ID. This contrasts with the point-structured light grid used in iPhone X, which uses a coded structured light scheme that produces a 3D arched model with a millimeter accuracy from the 33,000 encoded grid projected by the dot matrix projector. So the probability of breaking is nearly 0.
All this is nice and it is a good thing, but the cut-off battery will have a maximum of 5 hours of display, which will certainly not last until you use the phone’s capabilities properly.I would have been happier if it did not force the manufacturer to compromise and only add, rather than take a critical point of knowledge.
