The day ends with the introduction of the new OnePlus 6, a phone that really combines everything: advanced technology, sleek design and the lowest price against its direct competitors. Of course we would not say there is a completely new revolutionary design, but OnePlus was careful to give a package that would offer everything a modern user needs.
Starting from its screen, we must admit that for the first time the company uses such a large 6.28-inch AMOLED-sized panel, with a 19: 9 aspect ratio, while the notch, a new “trend” of our age. For screen resolution, the company reports that it touches the 1,080 x 2,280 pixels and support for both sRGB and DCI-P3. Up there is Gorilla Glass 5 protection and the screen-facade ratio is at 84%.
In the camera section we have a 16MP (Sony IMX376K) + 20MP (Sony IMX519) sensor with 4K @ 60 fps video capture and 480pps slow video with 720p resolution for 3.75s, video captured through main camera 16 MP on the back, which has a 19% greater sensor than 5T. There’s no OIS system behind the OnePlus 6 system, and there’s Smart Capture that automatically optimizes image quality based on what you’re shooting and there’s a new and improved HDR algorithm.
And since no phone is complete without AI, the 16 MP front camera uses an AI system to create bokeh of the portrait mode. The front camera is also suitable for unlocking with face read speed in 0.4 seconds, otherwise you can continue to use the fingerprint scanner on the back, just below the dual-camera.
All over the new OnePlus 6 has glass and metal and is available in the colors: Mirror Black, Midnight Black and Silk White.
Also, the phone has an IP54 standard water resistance.
Of course, OnePlus 6 is powered by a Snapdragon 845, Adreno 630 GPU chipset, 6 GB or 8 GB RAM, and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.1 by 2. There is no microSD port.
The battery is one of the few things that remain unchanged, has a capacity of 3,300 mAh and is charged through the fast Dash charging (5V at 4A). Surprisingly, there is no wireless charge support, despite the rear glass.
All variants of the OnePlus 6 go on sale May 22nd directly from OnePlus online store in North America, India, and across Europe. The European and UK pricing is less attractive than the US’s, with prices starting at €519 / £469 for 64GB of storage, going through €569 / £519 for 128GB, and maxing out at €619 / £569 for 256GB.
